The Fund to Benefit Children & Youth provides abused, neglected, and at-risk children in Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the items and services that traditional community and government sources cannot provide.
We are often the last hope for those in need.
We provide things like beds and cribs; winter coats, school uniforms, and sneakers; summer school and specialized summer camps; eyeglasses and dental care.
And the way we spend the contributions that our donors make is very important, too.
EVERY WEEK THE FUND MEETS NEEDS LIKE THIS:
Request #: 2020-11-NC#0812
Amount Requested: $500
Request Category: Clothing
Appeal: The four children, ages 2, 3, 4, and 9, had been in foster care, but are now living with their parents. All of them need winter clothes.
But the parents can’t afford to buy them. One works 30 hours a week; the other, 20 hours. Rather than getting more work, it is likely that, because of COVID, one parent will soon be laid off. Family income is under $15,000, supplemented by food stamps and medical assistance benefits. Other community resources have been explored.
Status: The Fund approved $500 for winter clothing for four children.
